I just read an article that made more sense than just about anything I've read for a long, long time...I read a lot, so trust me, that's saying something. At any rate, Mark Morford over at SFGate: Culture Blog wrote this piece about what he refers to as a "national plague," and a "fate worse than death." This plague, this epidemic is in fact working too hard, in a job that does not make us dream, does not make us wake up smiling, does not make us take risks or feel adventure anymore. He asks why do so many of us stay so 'stable' when we are literally burning to throw it all away into the wind, right along with any caution, and just GO, somewhere, anywhere, and finally live.

As he said, "the powers that be rely on our lethargy, our rampant doubts, the attitude that says that it's just too difficult or too impracticable to break away. After all, to quit a bland but stable job, to follow your own path implies breaking the rules and asking hard questions and dissing the status quo. And they absolutely cannot have that."

Please, read the article, use it, be inspired by it, who knows, maybe run off and do that crazy/creative/risky/insane/scary thing you've always wanted to do. If that dream of yours takes you anywhere near the ocean, let me know, I'll go too.
